Polish Literature Shines in Norway – Weronika Murek’s Book Shortlisted for Bastianprisen 2025
Great news for the Polish-Norwegian literary community! Renowned translator Agnes Banach has been shortlisted for the prestigious Bastianprisen 2025 for her Norwegian translation of Weronika Murek’s acclaimed book “Uprawa roślin południowych metodą Miczurina”.
The Norwegian edition, titled “Dyrkning av sydlige vekster etter Mitsjurins metode”, brings Murek’s unique style, subtle humor, and literary sensitivity to Norwegian readers. Originally celebrated in Poland for its originality and wit, the book now allows audiences in Norway to experience the charm of contemporary Polish literature firsthand.
Bastianprisen is one of Norway’s most respected literary awards, granted by the Norwegian Association of Translators (Norsk Oversetterforening). Being shortlisted is a major recognition, highlighting the quality of the translation and its cultural contribution to Norwegian literature.
